Looks like a safe place for the cats. I hope they are well cared for by a knowledgeable and caring people. The cats look well enough. They also feel well, I think?? The "meow meow..." sounds pleasant, like a sweet and insistent monologue to the visitor. Does the kitty want a pat, or a good scratch?
Thank you for your comment! It's my feeling, but the cats seemed to live happily. To answer your question, it hurts to be scratched, so stroking is better. But even if you get scratched, there's nothing wrong with that.😻
@@user-pp8nv6ym4z it looks like a tough neighborhood, where food is not offered regularly, or not enough is offered. So the cats may have to fight. They become much more defensive, and aggressive, when the bare necessities are not enough. I see some have messy face, torned ear... But overall they are in a safe enough neighborhood, and look relaxed, not on the offense - meaning they would just prefer to stay a distance but would scratch/bite when others get too near.
I interacted with a lot of cats, some were aggressive and some were conservative. Some cats were clean, others were not. I think they are all cats too.

There is another video (some other channel) of a cat island in Sendai. By a tourist. This island is an official tourist attraction, though not popular with tourists. Not popular is good for too many tourists would be a disadvantage to the cats. The cats on that island appear better cared for. I hope the same for all the cats who are cat island/commune residents, regardless of which island or place. Is anybody listening to the hope 🤔🙄...

Some of the islands I went to had more tourists and some less. So far the cat lived like a cat. I thought that was a very good thing.

数年前に馬島の猫は多くが毒殺されたと聞いていましたが、結構いるんですね。
